When I first encountered this elegant day launch I was at the beginning of my 30 year career in boating and on site in Henley as a writer for a German boating magazine. The then owners of Francesca generously invited me on board and I was enchanted by the scene unfolding around me. At that time I had no idea that I would one day live by the Thames and earn a living from classic boat sales and maintenance.

Francesca became Lady Sarah and is now named Rekindled after her current owners bought her from a yard in Windsor following a divorce when presumably Sarah and her doting husband became disentangled and the boat just had to go. Since leaving the Thames she has been cruising the canal in Derbyshire where there is a 40 mile stretch which is entirely lock free. However the owners think she should be reunited with other wooden craft where she came from all those years ago pre WWII. Talking of days pre WWII Rekindled has recently been filming Boys in the Boat which will go into cinemas on general release in 2023. It is a wonderful story culminating in a win for the Washington University 8 at the 1938 Olympic Games. Rekindled was spot on in terms of period and looks.
