Tiddley Pom Pom

£65,000

Tiddley Pom Pom is a rare belle epoque Gibbs saloon launch which was entirely renovated by Mark Stanley some years ago and has been kept in excellent order under the current ownership. This lovely saloon launch also benefits from a central Henley on Thames mooring should that be of interest to a new owner. I am told that she often takes 8 guests for a full day's cruising as she has extremely comfortable seating inside and out as well as a loo which is discreetly stowed beneath a seat on the port side with curtains offering a degree of privacy. In terms of size this is a great option as she is easy to moor and maneouvre without owners having to compromise on space. There are the two cockpits forward and aft with a canopy offering weather protection. There is room for an occasional table both forward of the engine box and inside the cabin itself.

We can't be sure of the original engine but since the 1990s a previous owner opted to install a Ford Watermota petrol engine (40 HP and 1300 cc) with upgraded electronic ignition, additional Domestic battery, 12 volt sockets fitted with USB charging outlet, stainless steel petrol and water tanks. Maintenance on the engine has been annual with winterisation and recommissioning each year including an annual service. There is one sink on the starboard side aft with cold water only - ideal for day cruising and entertaining.

Harry Gibbs built a number of fantastic hulls in his time boatbuilding on Trowlock Island. We have a couple for sale at the moment including Rekindled (originally named Francesca) and Lady Isabelle (a Dunkirk Little Ship). We love Gibbs for their styling and build quality using the best mahogany planking on oak frames for the hulls. Some were used during WWII as part of the Thames river patrol fleet.

The air draft is 6ft 9ins which makes the launch suitable for the Upper and mid Thames since she will easily pass under the infamous Osney Bridge.

Now a true Thames classic Tiddley Pom Pom is unique in design with its attractive bustle stern. A full length cover keeps the paint and varnish in excellent condition both winter and summer. The BSS certification and the EA licence are current.
