There are some boats which are difficult to categorise, and Feisty is one of them.
She has the elegance and character of a classic motor launch, the usability of a modern weekender and, with her top specification 173bhp Vetus diesel, a level of performance which makes her considerably more versatile than her wonderfully traditional appearance might suggest.
Designed by renowned Dutch naval architects Vripack, the PTS 26 takes its inspiration from the beautiful Swedish Pettersson motor boats of the early twentieth century. The result is an exceptionally handsome contemporary classic, with long elegant lines, a beautifully proportioned cockpit and unmistakably traditional styling, but constructed in GRP and designed for straightforward modern ownership.
Feisty is a particularly special example.
Built in 2021 and commissioned in 2022, she was specified with the powerful 173bhp four cylinder Vetus inboard diesel, placing her firmly at the performance end of the PTS 26 range. Her semi planing hull provides excellent manners at river speeds, while also giving her the ability to stretch her legs when cruising further afield.
At 8.25 metres, the cleverness of the PTS 26 becomes apparent once aboard.
The cockpit is extraordinarily generous for a boat of this length, creating a wonderful sociable space for family and friends. This is very much a boat designed around actually spending time aboard rather than simply getting from one place to another.
Below decks the PTS philosophy continues. The accommodation has been cleverly designed to give the facilities required for genuine weekends away, including sleeping accommodation, galley facilities and a separate heads, without compromising the elegant proportions of the boat.
It is perhaps this combination which explains the success of the PTS 26. She gives the owner the charm and presence associated with a traditional motor launch without the maintenance demands of a wooden hull.
And Feisty certainly has presence.
She has spent much of her life cruising the River Thames and has attracted compliments wherever she has travelled. Her owner has produced a beautiful film of Feisty on the Thames, giving a wonderful opportunity to see her underway and appreciate just how elegant and capable the PTS 26 is on the water. The film captures her character perfectly, from her classic lines and relaxed river manners to the wonderful presence she has as she cruises by.
Statement Marine builds its boats individually in the Netherlands rather than producing them on a conventional production line. Consequently specifications vary considerably, and finding a high specification, late PTS 26 on the second hand market is relatively unusual.
For somebody looking for a beautiful Thames boat, a sophisticated family weekender or a contemporary classic capable of travelling considerably further afield, Feisty offers an exceptionally compelling package.
Classic looks, modern construction, wonderful social space and serious performance … all contained within just over eight metres.
Feisty is now offered for sale through Henley Sales & Charter at £129,000.
