Storebro, the famous and long lived Swedish yard built 800 of these popular family cruisers.
Marand of Kip is another Scandi classic built of mahogany on oak frames and designed with a light and spacious cabin aft, an airy Saloon and a decent sized wheelhouse, as well as the double cabin forward, the Royal cruiser makes a perfect family boat. This particular boat has seen various upgrades and considerable maintenance under its current ownership. Marand is fitted with twin Volvo TMD31A diesel inboards with approximately 2250 hours. The four bladed propeller is fitted with rope cutters and there are trim tabs. Sh cruises at a steady 7 knots with a fuel capacity of 1000 litres in two tanks.
In the wheelhouse there is a clean white head lining above the wrap around seating. The sole (new in 2020 is teak style floor panel which lift to give easy access to the engines.
The practical galley layout features a Taylors 2 Burner Oven & Grill with a Fridge & Icebox and plenty of cupboards for storage. The forward cabin features a double 'V' Berth with infill and cupboards on both port and starboard below an overhead hatch. All berths are finished in blue upholstery as is the wheelhouse bench seating. In the heads is a manual sea toilet and a shower as well as a white sink with hot & cold water.
When the current owners bought the boat for their excursions across the Channel during which they lived comfortably aboard for many months, they had found her on the Thames. She has proved her worth for sea as well as for inshore work and would be easy to transport back to the Thames or even north of the border to Scotland where loch cruising would suit this all weather vessel extremely well.
Marand was ashore for antifouling and survey (please ask) in February 2024. She represents a well priced contemporary classic suitable for sea or inland waterways cruising.
