Yes I know it's a strange name for a boat but then frogs have been known to turn into princes (and possibly vice versa). When delivered to the current owners on the Thames she was called Celestine which is a fine name for a princess and this is a fine boat. They wanted something to enjoy with their children and guests so the large aft cockpit was just perfect and the small forward cabin ideal for storage with a neat little galley and a Portapotti under the forward bunk.
The boat was built by Patterson BoatWorks in Cumbria in their trademark cedar strip planking with epoxy which makes their boats robust and unique unlike GRP boats which emerge from identical moulds. The decks feature teak with some mahogany inlay which matches the internal veneer on the bulkheads. The boat is driven by a 5kw Lynch electric motor (four of which drove the UK team to victory in the World Electric Speed Record in 1987) and a set of batteries which were replaced recently. Any varnish and additions such as the attractive cabin air vents (you may say they look like frog eyes...) are the work of Henwood and Dean Boatbuilders.
You could certainly spend a weekend camping on FP and the bow is suited not only to river but also to estuarial or lake use. The draft is just 24 inches.
The vendors are moving away from the river. Frog Prince has benefitted from a cosy boathouse but a full length cover would also do the trick should a new owner wish to keep the boat on an exposed mooring.
