Amber Dawn is an Ocean 30 which was fitted out by Herbert Woods (Norfolk Broads) in 1975 and has benefited from a fantastic restoration over the past 3 years with many subtle upgrades including attention to all wood work, deck fittings re-chromed, fittings resealed and the original GRP hull polished. The head linings were completely renewed and period lighting chosen to replace the originals. The galley has a new refrigerator and boasts new Corian counter tops as well as a new sink and taps with hot and cold pressurised water. To port you will find a roomy compartment for the heads which also contrains the shower and a basin.
In the bow is the standard V berth arrangement with new mattresses from Ship Shape, USB and WSBC power point with reading lights. In the main saloon area is a large dinette which can be configures with a half size table, full table or a double berth. As was customary in the twentieth century a bar and storage is concealed behind the side settee. The cockpit sole was relaid with synthetic low maintenance teak and has masses of storage capacity underneath. Two years ago the rear cockpit cushions were recovered and a year prior to that a new hood was fitted. The aft cockpit was fitted out with newly varnished sapele panelling and trim. There are comfortable helm and navigator's seats, again period correct. There is a varnished bathing platform and a folding swim ladder as well as davits should you wish to add a dinghy to the inventory.
I was very impressed by the overall condition of Amber Dawn which can be viewed near Windsor where a mooring may also be available. This is a lovely boat with years of happy ownership and cruising for a new owner. The current proprietor has recently purchased a fantastic wooden motoryacht but not before making sure that Amber Dawn was in tip top shape for a new owner.
With twin Mercedes OM636 engines and a TPM gearbox she is apparently a delight to helm and the Sumlog and depth sounder are both in working order. The BSS is current and there is a Thames licence for 2024. The Thames mooring may also be available for a new owner.
