A Beautifully Preserved Classic British Speedboat
This is a rare opportunity to acquire an original Broom Viking mahogany runabout — a true British classic, remarkably well-preserved and presented in outstanding condition.
This boat was purchased new in 1962 by the vendor’s father from Lewis Marine in Wanstead. It has remained in the same family ever since and has seen very light use over the decades. In fact, it has not been used at all for approximately 50 years.
After each use, the boat was carefully washed down with fresh water, dried, covered, and stored in a domestic garage — a maintenance routine that has preserved its original condition, including the factory upholstery, which remains intact and remarkably well-kept.
The mahogany hull retains its natural beauty and classic lines, making it an exceptional example of British boatbuilding from this era.
The original Gale 35HP outboard is no longer operational, but the vendor is offering an Evinrude 25HP two-stroke long shaft as part of the sale. This engine has been checked over and is running well.
This Broom Viking would make a striking and nostalgic presence on the Norfolk Broads, the upper Thames, or any classic boat gathering. It is ideal for gentle cruising with a small outboard engine and offers a rare blend of craftsmanship, provenance, and originality.
