1938 Morris & Leavett Twin-Screw Cabin Cruiser
Floxy is a smart 26-foot gentleman’s cruiser from 1938, well laid out with a comfortable open aft cockpit and helm position. She has attractive lines and neatly detailed joinery throughout the cabin and cockpit. The next custodian may wish to refresh some of the varnish work, but otherwise she is in good condition and has been well maintained.
Built of carvel-planked larch on oak frames, Floxy has a newly restored mahogany transom, a hardwood aft deck, and a teak foredeck. Her cabin and cockpit are built and fitted mainly in hardwood, offering a simple and practical layout that works well for relaxed day cruising.
In 2020 she underwent a major professional refit, including the installation of twin 4 kW / 8 hp Torqeedo 48 V electric pod drives, powered by eight 180 Ah lithium-ion batteries with Victron chargers. Electric propulsion is increasingly sought after for its quiet, clean operation and low running costs, and the investment made in Floxy’s engine and electrical systems represents a significant upgrade. With this setup, she cruises smoothly for up to eight hours at a comfortable 8 km/h, ideal for peaceful days afloat on inland waters, making her an appealing and competitively priced opportunity for anyone looking to enjoy classic boating with modern convenience.
Additional updates included some new larch planking, fresh paint and antifoul, and an electric toilet with holding tank. Twin Torqeedo throttles with computerised instrumentation complete the setup. Floxy holds a new Boat Safety Certificate and current Thames licence.
Floxy’s history adds further appeal — a previous owner was Richard Knox-Johnston, brother of celebrated yachtsman Robin Knox-Johnston.
