There is almost a century of history attached to Moja which came with the US Navy from across the Atlantic to Scotland during the second world war where she patrolled the coast on official naval duties. After this a naval captain kept her on as his own private boat. Some of her history is lost in the mists of time, including the original builder. However one can see the distinctive lines of a commuter style launch which was a popular choice for Wall Street brokers living on Long Island or in one of the smart commuter suburbs where a quick trip across the sound brought one directly into the heart of Manhattan.
There are distinct separate sleeping areas fore and aft with heads and showers at both ends. The varnished mahogany galley has both a dishwasher and two large fridges (2018) one with a freezer top offering good facilities for entertaining. The feel on board is of calm and elegance with freestanding furniture in the main saloon which can be relocated to the top deck where there are dual controls.
We await a full inventory from the owner. The boat has been ministered unto for the past twenty years by Messers of Old Windsor who have an intimate knowledge of Moja above and below the waterline.
A pair of Ford Mermaids, approx 125 hp per piece with 6 cylinders with a side power bow thruster, a new 5 kw Panda generator was fitted in 2019 and in 2020 all the mattresses were replaced with smart coverings.
The previous owner used Freebody for maintenance while Messer rebuilt the superstructure to include a curved roof and aft cabin and the flying bridge. Colin is happy to discuss the boat with a potential owner.
A little salacious gossip regarding the boat's early days in the USA - apparently she was reputed to be a fast rum runner around the Florida Quays during Prohibition !
