Mater is of unknown heritage but given the shape and character she would appear to hail from Scandinavia, probably Sweden as I sold a very similar boat here on the Thames a few years ago. This one has been through a full restoration which included respraying the hull, adding a rope fender, a wooden cockpit sole, Fusion sound system, good spray hood with windows and tonneau as well as a non braked trailer for ease of launching.
The engine is a reliable 1GM10 which cruises comfortably with the whole family on board. Cushions were made for the forward and aft bench seating as well as for the engine box which can double as a table when moored or anchored. For additional comfort there appears to be ample room for a couple of folding directors chairs.
While happy in Chichester Harbour Mater would be equally at home on the Thames (subject to acquiring a BSS certificate), the Broads, Windermere etc. The draft is just 2ft and the owners tell me that the boat feels stable and spacious enough for children (and their adults) to move around safely.
The boat is available for viewing in her winter storage premises under cover in Hampshire.
